POSITION VACANCY – Program Director
Paws’itive Teams is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs who live in San Diego County, by utilizing the skills of highly trained Service and Therapy Dogs. With the exception of the part-time Executive Director and Program Director, Paws’itive Teams is an all-volunteer organization.
The Program Director directs and coordinates the Service Dog Program of the origanization and acts as an advisor to the Therapy Dog Program by performing the duties personally or through delegation of the volunteers within the limits of the By-laws of the Corporation and the policies as set by the Board of Directors. This position will also engage heavily with the community outreach and be responsible for service pup acquisition and management. This is a part-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director.
Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), knowledge of various physical disabilities, and knowledge of service dogs. Highly effective interpersonal skill: skilled in tactful diplomacy and conflict resolution; excellent presentation, teaching and public speaking skills; and ability to read, analyze and interpret information pertaining to the training of dogs, general professional journals, and government regulations. Must be self-motivated and work independently with maximal direction. Must be able to motivate, manage volunteers and work well with others. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets. Experience in canine behavior and training. Non-profit experienced preferred. Successful completion of organization’s background and DMV check required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as necessary.
