THE THREE NEW “C’S” IN MY LIFE
by Linda Wilson
There was a time in my life when three “C’s” would not have made a difference, except maybe that certain look from my parents. Today three “C’s” are more than “A+’s.” The three “C’s” are Chamois, Charli and Carol.
I have always considered myself a lucky person for most of my 55 years. I had polio at a very young age but never thought of it as holding me back. I now have a wonderful family and great support group of friends. Being introduced to Paws’itive Teams confirms that luck can still be on my side. My childhood friend, Kathy Alameda, was puppy sitting for service dog in-training, Chauncey. Carol happened to mention to Kathy that they had a dog ready to be matched. Being a supportive friend, Kathy told them all about me. I had recently been released from the hospital and rehab after two months following back surgery.
I met Chamois, fell in love, and became curious and interested in the meaning of the term ’service dog’. Chamois and I were matched and began transition training under Charli’s leadership. This special dog has already changed my life. Every time we are together, I am amazed at all the help and love she can give. I have been working with Charli and Chamois since June, attending graduate events and meeting such wonderful people and mentors. I feel so honored to be entering the family of Paws’itive Teams.
I look forward to learning, supporting and making new friends through this incredible organization--a path that reminds me how lucky one can be.
