Founded by Carol Davis and Charli King in 1997. Paws’itive Teams was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in California in May of 1999 (EIN 33-0851474). Our initial programs involved training Service Dogs, and we serve individuals in San Diego County with limited mobility.
Now, we are offering a 6-week Therapy Dog Prep Class, so the owner who desires to use their pet dog as a therapy dog can do so.
In 2006, we established the PAAT program (Paws’itive Animal Assisted Therapy). The PAAT program involves sites within San Diego County. Certified PAAT Therapy Dog Teams work together with licensed therapists with developmentally and/or physically disabled children and adults.
Paws’itive Teams also graduated its first Facility Dog team in 2006. In 2010, we launched the Paws’itive Teams Personal Paws program. The program uses PAAT Certified therapy dog/handler teams to make one-on-one visits to individuals in their homes, in local parks or in our Training Center, which is off Carroll Road.
